Summary:This report presents results of calculations of the service life of blood pumps based on energy criteria of dissipative failure for pneumatic ventricular assist systems. Calculations were carried out using mathematical modeling of the stress–strain state of diaphragms of thicknesses 0.3 and 0.5 mm. The effects of diaphragm thickness on service life were assessed using symmetrical and sawtooth loading cycles. The amplitudes of the maximal equivalent stress and the coefficients of residual strength (safety factor) for different diaphragm thicknesses were determined.
