Description
Summary:This study used nationally representative data from the China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey 2018 to investigate correlations between older people’s productive aging activities and their life satisfaction. The results show that volunteering and grandparenting are positively associated with life satisfaction in older adults, although more so in the rural sample. Furthermore, working is positively associated with life satisfaction in urban older adults, while an opposite relationship was found among rural older adults. The findings imply that properly encouraging the productive engagement of older adults might be a win-win strategy in actively coping with the challenges of population aging.
