Summary:J D Abrams, known as David, who has died aged 94, was a leading London eye surgeon, head of ophthalmology at the Royal Free Hospital, and coauthor (with Stewart Duke-Elder) of The Practice of Refraction. On stepping down from the NHS in 1993, David continued private practice at 99 Harley Street and the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood, including his work as an expert witness. Consultant ophthalmic surgeon in medicolegal practice, Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth, London (b 1928; q 1951; DO, MA (Oxon), FRCS, FRSM, DM, FRCOphth), died from Alzheimer’s disease on 4 November 2022
