Description
Summary:The membrane of electrolyte polymer has been widely developed before in other research. One of them is the modification of membrane-based chitosan (CS) as the primary material. Natural zeolite (NZ) is a material that can be added to chitosan (CS) to improve the mechanical and chemical properties of membranes. This research aims to distinguish the membrane of electrolyte polymers based on Chitosan/Pahae Natural Zeolite (CS/PNZ) with and without crosslinked by sulfuric acid. Preparation of Membrane uses the solution casting method. There are two samples used: CS/PNZ and CS/PNZ crosslinked by sulfuric acid. The research results explained that the membrane crosslinked by sulfuric acid has a tensile strength of 10.8 MPa. At the same time, the membrane without crosslinked by sulfuric acid amounted to 0.04 MPa. For the chemical properties of oxidation stability, by soaking the Membrane in Fenton’s reagent (3 wt% hydrogen peroxide and 2ppm iron (II) sulfate), CS/PNZ membrane has oxidation stability of 416 minutes and 52 minutes for membranes with and without crosslinked by sulfuric acid, respectively so that the crosslinked method by sulfuric acid can improve the tensile strength and oxidation stability of the membrane.
