Description
Summary:Thin overlay as a new rehabilitation strategy has more advantages, which increased its popularity. Its benefit appears as reduced layer thickness, which is related to reducing the overall cost, improved ride quality, and less noise. For the prediction service life of a thin overlay mixture, it is essential to understand the failure behaviour of its components. This study had three primary objectives: (i) design thin overlay using Iraq local material, (ii) determine the optimum binder content for mixes used in ultra-thin overlays, and evaluate its volumetric properties (iii) observe healing and cracking behaviour. The performance evaluation has been conducted using laboratory techniques, such as indirect tensile tests and punch shear tests. The output appears that decreasing the mix strength tendency as the healing cycle increased.
