Description
Summary:In this paper we present the results of the use of magnesium phosphorus molybdate (Mg(PO 3 ) 2 –MoO 3 ) additive to improve the tribotechnical characteristics of TsIATIM-201 and LZ-TsNII plastic railway greases. The studies were carried out using an FBM friction machine and SMT-1 modernized friction machine. The introduction of the Mg(PO 3 ) 2 –MoO 3 additive into the dispersion medium of these lubricants is shown to improve the tribotechnical properties, reducing wear by 50–55% compared to the base grease, and increases the colloidal stability and dropping temperature. Dissolved in the lubricating medium, oxygen, which is spent on changing the structure of phosphorus molybdate ions, was found to contribute to wear reduction. Increasing loads and short-term rising of temperature in the friction unit, which cause an increase of anion polymerization of linear forms of phosphomolybdates, make a certain contribution. The practical efficiency of grease lubricants with the studied additive for friction units of railway transport is noted.
