Summary: | To increase the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy, new photosensitizers are searched for, as well as suitable sources, illuminators, and means of delivery are developed. Also, attempts are made to additionally use various external influences and various nanoparticles for the delivery of photosensitizers. This includes the use of colloidal gold for photodynamic effects combined with a photosensitizer. In this paper, we make an attempt to determine whether colloidal gold itself causes cell death when they are irradiated within its absorption band. We find that colloidal gold does not cause photodynamic effects in the absence of a photosensitizer. |
