Summary:For this celebratory number, I was commissioned to give an account of what is contained in Historia Mexicana on constitutional matters. I found the request sensible and attractive and its execution simple and interesting. This, until I began to outline the task. I had in front of me numerous copies to review. Faced with this purely quantitative challenge, another more worrying one arose. That of the criteria to be followed to identify, within the enormous mass of published collaborations, those that have a “constitutional” character. Should I quantify the material, periodize it, describe it, criticize it, or try to do all of this simultaneously? What seemed like a simple assignment began to require a method.
