L-Tryptophan metal-organic frameworks based on transition metals: Preparation, characterization and application for ruthenium3+ ions sorption

Three metal-organic frameworks, {[Zn(L-trp)(bpe)(H2O)]·2H2O·2NO3}n, {[Co(L-trp)(bpe)(H2O)]·H2O·NO3}n and {[Ni(L-trp)(bpe)(H2O)]·H2O·NO3}n were prepared from amino acid L-tryptophan (L-Htrp), 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene) (bpe), and the Zn2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ ions respectively. The obtained crystals were...

Description
Summary:Three metal-organic frameworks, {[Zn(L-trp)(bpe)(H2O)]·2H2O·2NO3}n, {[Co(L-trp)(bpe)(H2O)]·H2O·NO3}n and {[Ni(L-trp)(bpe)(H2O)]·H2O·NO3}n were prepared from amino acid L-tryptophan (L-Htrp), 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene) (bpe), and the Zn2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ ions respectively. The obtained crystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Synthesized materials were checked for sorption of ruthenium from aqueous solutions. From this series of metal-organic frameworks, only Ni-compound is suitable for the adsorption experiments.
