Summary: | For improving LC light‐thru, the RGBW technology is proposed to implement peak brightness for high dynamic range display application. In current design, utilizing sub‐pixel rendering (SPR) places RGBW sub‐pixels on stripe array of 3 channels uniformly and keeps the same driving source line in three subpixels per pixel. The SPR algorithm is required to compensate it to pretend as similar display performance as real stripe RGB panel. The paper will discuss how W sub‐pixel is utilized to tune panel brightness and avoid possible issues for display colorful pictures. The paper would present the SPR, adaptive content backlight control (SPW+BL) and its HDR application (SPW+HDR) to dominate dynamic brightness range of RGBW panel. |
