Summary: | The physical and mathematical models of curing of polymer matrix composite under microwave radiation are presented. The models describe the processes of the electromagnetic radiation propagation in the volume of the operating area, volumetric heat generation due to the electromagnetic energy absorption and the exothermic curing of the matrix as well as conductive heat transfer in the workpiece and radiation heat transfer between non-uniformly heated surfaces of the workpiece and the walls of the operating area. The modeling of the curing in thick-walled and thin-walled cylindrical workpieces is performed. The challenges of processing of thin-walled parts are presented. |
