Dinuclear [OSSO]-Fe complexes for the reaction of CO2 with epoxides

A dinuclear iron-based catalytic system, bearing a new alkyl-bridged bis-[OSSO]-type ligand, for the coupling of CO2 with epoxides is reported. A turnover frequency up to 1680 h−1 was recorded for propylene carbonate formation. A bimetallic cooperative reaction mechanism is proposed on the basis of...

Description
Summary:A dinuclear iron-based catalytic system, bearing a new alkyl-bridged bis-[OSSO]-type ligand, for the coupling of CO2 with epoxides is reported. A turnover frequency up to 1680 h−1 was recorded for propylene carbonate formation. A bimetallic cooperative reaction mechanism is proposed on the basis of kinetic analyses. These results give insights into the development of more efficient catalysts.
