Summary:Abstract An adaptive magnetic flux and position observer has been designed for a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The measurable signals are stator winding currents and voltages only. The observer provides observation error convergence to zero in finite time for measurements without noise. The design method is iteratively applied to obtain the rotor velocity and load torque estimates.
