Summary: | In the present paper the possibility of butt friction stir welding of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V by a tool from heat-resistant alloy ZhS6U on the nickel base is investigated. Metallography research was carried out to study the structure of joints. Mechanical tensile tests were carried out to study the strength properties of the joints. The researches have shown good applicability of ZhS6U alloy for friction stir welding of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V. The results of the research show that the part of welding tool had been stirred in the structure of the weld. However, nickel base alloy tool had passed about 690 mm of weld, before starting to wear out. |
