Summary: | This paper discusses the assistance of pulsating power supply during electrochemical honing (ECH) of bevel gears. Experimentation is performed to evaluate the effects of ECH process parameters: machining time (Tm), pulse-on time (Ton), pulse-off time (Toff), and duty cycle (Dc) on percentage improvement in surface roughness values, percentage improvement in bearing ratio, and material removal rate of the process. A comparative study between continuous and pulsating DC supply for ECH of gears is also executed. It reveals that pulse-assistance in ECH generates better surface quality as compared to continuous. |
