Summary: | Two species belonging to the genus
Reimeria
were found in water bodies of Southeast Asia:
R. sinuata
and
R. uniseriata
. Species were studied using light and scanning electron microscopy. First species is characterized by biseriate striae and quantitate characteristic that are close with European populations. Second species is characterized by uniseriate striae and large valve sized that is different our population from others. All species of the genus have been described from the Holarctic and extratropical regions. This is the first report of
R. uniseriata
from ecosystems of Southeast Asia. The distribution of the discovered species, as well as previous reports of
Reimeria
species from the waters of Southeast Asia, are discussed. |
