Description
Summary:Hydrophobization of highly porous heat-shielding ceramic materials based on quartz fibers was studied. Radiation-synthesized tetrafluoroethylene telomers having different chain length and different chemically active terminal groups were used as hydrophobizing agents. Comparative analysis of the performance of the telomers in modification of TZMK-10 material was made. Treatment with solutions of tetrafluoroethylene telomers allows making hydrophilic materials highly hydrophobic with the contact angle of the order of 140˚. This significantly improves the operation characteristics of the modified materials and expands the possibilities of using them as heat-shielding and heat-insulating materials.
