Description
Summary:The prospects for methods based on the Harrington desirability function in comparing the characteristics of automation systems before and after modernization are assessed. Such functions are reviewed and analyzed and their values are tabulated so as to permit their optimal use in multicriterial selection problems. The analysis concludes with an illustration of how the approach performs in practice. Given the current interest in expert methods, the proposed approach may be widely adopted both in selecting approaches to updating the automation of industrial processes and in assessing the results of such modernization.
