Description
Summary:The oxidation of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic and 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acids by atmospheric oxygen in the presence of laccase from T. versicolor is studied via electronic absorption spectroscopy. The molar extinction coefficients of intermediate and final products, the rate constants, and the initial rates of oxidation are determined by means of the maximum likelihood approach. The parameters of the Michaelis–Menten equation are calculated. Polymeric oxidation products are isolated, and their composition is investigated via mass spectrometry and 13 C NMR spectroscopy.
