Summary:Some 133 men and women were inducted as the first ACM Fellows at ACM's annual Computer Science Conference on March 8-9, 1994. The designation of Fellow is awarded to members who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding technical and professional achievements in computer science and information technology and their service to ACM. Fellows' contributions to the field cover a broad spectrum of topics and interests, including theoretical work in numerical analysis, combinatorial methematics, and algorithmic complexity analysis, work with computer architectures and integrated circuits, personal computer and supercomputer design, software design, and networking. Awards presented at the conference included the A. M. Turing Award, the Distinguished Service Award, the Outstanding Contribution to ACM Award, the Software System Award, the Karl V. Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award, the Grace Murray Hopper Award, and the Doctoral Dissertation Award.
