Preserving the Verse of Bygone Bards
The family estate of Reizei Tameto in Kyoto Japan houses more than 10,000 scrolls, books and manuscripts of ancient classical poetry and literary criticism. The tradition of court poetry known as waka, perpetuated by the Reizei family, is discussed, and the collection is described.
