Summary:There is lack of data concerning treatment satisfaction among patients and their relation to medication adherence in chronic ill patients in the local setting. [...]this study is conducted to assess the satisfaction and medication adherence level among chronic ill patients in a tertiary hospital in Malaysia. Unfortunately, in the current work, medication adherence was found to be poor among chronic ill patients, with more than half of the study population showing non-adherence to medications, similar to previous reports13. [...]the ability to identify the reason for non-adherence among chronic ill patients would largely benefit treatment goals in the long run. [...]the sample size of the study population was small, and further work should be performed in a larger sample size. [...]the complexity of a regimen and pill burden are among reasons why treatment satisfaction and as such adherence, may be lower in patients with chronic illness.
