Summary: | The UK's Select Committee on Foreign Affairs was set up to scrutinize the expenditures, administration, and policy of the Foreign Office, producing on average eight periodic reports per year on issues of current relevance. This eighth report for the 2006-200707 session broadly covers the UK's war on terror from Jan 2006 to June 2007 and is intended to be the first in a series on global security matters. It includes sections on policy toward Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, but nearly half of the eighty-nine pages (excluding appendices) address policy toward Israel and the Palestinians in the period between Hamas's election win and its takeover of Gaza. |
