Description
Summary:A survey of 500 environmental health professionals in seven southern states (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana) was conducted in 1990 to assess gender perceptions of: work values; gender segregation in the work environment; the extent to which respondents perceive they are being "sheltered" in their work environment; how respondents perceive a supervisor on a personal or organizational level according to the supervisor's gender; and co-worker preference by gender. Results suggest that there is bias against females working in the environmental health field.
