Description
Summary:In general, knowledge about the situation of indigenous ways of life in the Colombian Amazon is characterized by a lack of information about their particularities and the most relevant impacts of development policies and actions in their territories. The article proposes to present a dialogue of knowledge at the intercultural level, which allowed the construction of a proposal of Indicators of Human Well-being (IBHI) for indigenous peoples, based on a concept of human well-being in terms of “abundance” which is based on values such as traditional knowledge, social and cultural recognition, ethical and spiritual codes of conduct in relation to society and nature. IBHI is an information tool that serves as a support in the processes of discussion and negotiation on the public policies that the State carries out with indigenous peoples in the Colombian Amazon. The IBHI have the potential to evaluate indigenous ways of life, within the framework of capacities: collective control of the territories; Autonomous cultural agency; Food self-sufficiency; Achieve a quiet environment; Care and reproduction; of indigenous societies in the Colombian Amazon.
