Description
Summary:The MSC Dytran and Nastran progressive failure models MAT8A, MATD054, and MATD058 composite materials were investigated. The main objective of the investigation was understanding the particularities of the models, their advantages, disadvantages, and limits of application. The material chosen for simulations was a Toray T700GC-12K-31E/#2510 unidirectional carbon-epoxy prepreg. During a vast number of singleelement simulations, each model was calibrated in accordance with experimental stress–strain curves. Based on correlation errors and simulation experience, conclusions about the material models are made.
