He was born on Sept. 22, 1931 in Cambridge MA and graduated from Northeastern University with a BSc in chemical engineering. He and Clyde Tombaugh established a program of systematic, ground-based telescopic imaging of the planets at the New Mexico State University (NMSU) to support the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)'s upcoming robotic planetary missions in 1958. |
