Summary: | Almost 74,000 federal employees in more than 200 organizations are engaged in financial management, from budgeting to accounting to fiscal analysis to transaction processing to IT support. LEED was developed in 1998 as a standard framework for assessing sustainable building practices by the U.S. Green Building Council - at the time, a sixperson industry group with no regulatory or enforcement authority! Since 1998, more than 82,000 commercial buildings have been certified according to LEED standards. Since 2015, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Financial Innovation and Transformation (FIT) has been creating the basic building blocks of a LEED-type framework for guiding the modernization of federal financial management. |
