Description
Summary:Professor Ronald F. Duska has documented the remarkable 75-year history of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the life of The American College's founder, Solomon S. Huebner. Demographics and economics are on a collision course in time. How will society finance the long-term assistance needed by burgeoning millions of retirees who will no longer be able to care for themselves during those years that are being increasingly extended by medical advances? Because of continuing budget deficits, few expect to see any expansion of Medicare's long-term care coverage beyond the current restrictive maximum of 100 days spent in a nursing home immediately following hospitalization, or the extremely limited services that can be provided by Medicare-certified home health care agencies. The multifaceted issues of the deepening long-term care crisis present a golden opportunity for society to show resolve and innovation by bringing together the best minds from many affected sectors.
