Description
Summary:An abstract of a study by Nazir et al on targeting cancer cells based on their phosphodiesterase 3A expression is presented. The study used Fluorometric Microculture Cytotoxicity Assay for measurement of the cytotoxicity, and PDE-inhibitors including zardaverine, quazinone, enoximone, and cytotoxic substances as positive controls. Immunofluorescence Staining with primary antibody PDE3A and image analysis using Arrayscan. Results showed cell lines of various origins (i.e. melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, colon carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma) striking in vitro sensitivity to Phosphodiesterase inhibitors. The PDE3 expressing cells were not more sensitive to standard drugs (doxorubicin, oxaliptatin and vincristine).
