INITIATION OF LOOP DIURETIC THERAPY IS ASSOCIATED WITH A LOWER RISK OF 30-DAY ALL-CAUSE READMISSION IN PATIENTS WITH HEART FAILURE NOT RECEIVING DIURETICS PRIOR TO HOSPITALIZATION

Propensity scores for loop diuretic use, estimated for each of the 9866 patients, were used to assemble a cohort of 2804 pairs of patients receiving and not receiving loop diuretics, balanced on 60 baseline characteristics. Conclusion In patients with HF not receiving loop diuretics prior to hospita...

Description
Summary:Propensity scores for loop diuretic use, estimated for each of the 9866 patients, were used to assemble a cohort of 2804 pairs of patients receiving and not receiving loop diuretics, balanced on 60 baseline characteristics. Conclusion In patients with HF not receiving loop diuretics prior to hospital admission, initiation of loop diuretics upon discharge was associated with improved clinical outcomes at 30 days but not at 1 year.
