Summary:In view of the heterogeneity of published research on e-government, this paper examines research trends and assesses the methodologies used, to help e-government researchers in this field in terms of the development and direction of future analyses. A comprehensive analysis of the e-government research published in articles in JCR journals, within the field of Public Administration is provided. In this article, knowledge gaps and research opportunities are identified in order for researchers to inquire about them and construct theoretical bases that enhance the development of knowledge in this area.
