Description
Summary:A novel method of preparation of organic films is described, which employs an alternating magnetic field applied to the film cast from a solution and results in an improved film morphology. The changed film morphology is explained by a magnetomechanical effect due to the interaction of the applied field and the induced magnetic moment in an organic molecule. The effect is demonstrated for a range of materials, such as polymers and low-weight organic dyes, which have different tendencies to form aggregates or crystallites in the condensed state. It is proposed that the method can be used as a reasonable alternative to the spin-coating technique for preparation of cast films with a high-quality morphology.
