Doté d’une seule anse, il figure un guerrier accroupi, ou en course agenouillée, coiffé d’un casque et vêtu d’une cape. En raison du style de sa peinture, la tasse peut être attribuée au peintre de Berlin 2268, un artiste par ailleurs spécialisé dans cette forme de récipient, dénommé peut-être kothon dans l’Antiquité. Créé à la fin du VIème siècle av. J.-C., il est l’un des plus anciens, sinon le plus ancien vase attique à figures rouges découvert jusqu’ici à Monte Iato. The fragments of a one-handled, Attic red-figure mug were found on the ancient floor in the north-eastern corner of the late Archaic building K, in the western quarter of Iaitas. The fragments show a crouched or running warrior wearing a helmet and a short cloak. Based on the painting style, the mug can be ascribed to the Painter of Berlin 2268, who specialised in this type of vessel, probably known as a kothon in antiquity. The mug, which dates to the late 6th century B.C., is one of the earliest Attic red-figure vessels from Monte Iato, if not the very earliest.
