Summary: | Sculptures and works of art are usually protected with anticorrosive acrylic resin-based coatings. In general, Paraloid is used. This coating can be reinforced with corrosion inhibitors that extend the protection period. The characterization of the corrosion process of C844 bronze with the 2-MBI inhibitor is performed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy using a simple equivalent circuit model, with resistive and capacitive phenomena that describe the corrosion phenomena and the growth of oxides in the exhibition area. This confirms the corrosion kinetics, through the impedance spectra of the C844 alloy. Once the coating degraded, it can be seen that the formation of the oxide caused a rapid increase in the impedance module. |
