Summary: | The Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) paradigm is intended to improve the execution of applications on mobile devices through the processing power provided by cloud computing. Several MCC frameworks have been proposed in the last few years to allow mobile applications to perform offloading. However, despite recent advances in this research field, there exists no readily available testbed to assist researchers and developers in designing and evaluating their solutions in a scalable environment. In this context, this paper presents a tool that leverages lightweight virtualization to create MCC testbed environments composed of multiple mobile devices and remote servers. Two case studies are performed to demonstrate how developers and researchers can create more realistic experimentation scenarios to test and evaluate applications and MCC solutions. |
