Summary:This paper describes an energy monitoring method that is applicable to home energy management system (HEMS). The typical HEMS employs a home server or a gateway to aggregate the energy consumption data, and uses ZigBee, PLC, or WiFi based connection-oriented communications as a data transmission method. The proposed method utilizes the connectionless communication of Bluetooth Low Energy as a data transmission method. Thereby, the proposed method can enhance the energy efficiency of data communication, and make it possible to aggregate the energy consumption data of multiple home appliances simultaneously.
