Description
Summary:In this paper both normal-band and narrow-band PIFA antennas for small terminals are compared through numerical simulations and measurements for different UMTS bandwidths. It is found that using different antennas for the transmitting and receiving regions of the frequency duplex it is possible to achieve a significant improvement in terms of isolation. Measurement results show also that ohmic losses lower the total efficiency in the narrow-band case especially at low frequencies.
