Summary: | A novel compact printed antenna with two ports is introduced for antenna diversity application. The antenna operates at 2.4 GHz and provides 140 MHz bandwidth for a return loss less than -10 dB. This covers the frequency band of the commercial wireless LANs (2400~2480 MHz). The power coupling between the antenna ports is better than -18 dB. The antenna may be used in a wireless link to provide uncorrelated diversity signals or may perform as a duplexer in a full duplex systems, allowing the receive and the transmit signals to be well isolated. The antenna is simulated and optimized using transmission line matrix (TLM) method code. The signals correlation between the diversity ports, in a uniform field scattering environment and Rayleigh multipath fading channel, are computed from the modeled complex radiation patterns. The received signals are experimentally measured inside an artificially generated multipath scattering field environment of a mode stirred reverberation chamber (MSRC).
