Description
Summary:This paper highlights noise-immune Schmitt trigger circuits with improved hysteresis width. Dual Purpose Schmitt Trigger (DPST) is employed as a dual purpose owing to the addition of a control module and can act as a domino logic as well as a Schmitt trigger (ST) circuit. Major performance parameters such as hysteresis width, power consumption, delay, and process variation of HW are calculated for different ST circuits. All simulation work has been carried out using the UMC 40nm CMOS technology with Cadence virtuoso tool. The proposed ST has 1.23×, 3.77×, and 1.17× less dynamic power dissipation, leakage power dissipation, and delay, respectively, as compared to conventional ST which makes it a more efficient ST. The hysteresis width of the proposed ST is 1.11× more than the conventional circuit. The higher hysteresis width than that of other reported circuits makes it more practical for use in a noisy environment.
