Summary: | The latest standard Versatile Video Coding (VVC) adopts new coding tools namely Multiple Transform Selection (MTS), Low-Frequency Non-Separable Transform (LFNST), Multiple Reference Line (MRL) and Quadtree with Nested Multi-Type Tree (QTMT). These improvements enhance the VVC coding efficiency compared to its predecessor High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) at the cost of computational complexity increasing. The QTMT technique consumes an important coding time in order to determine the decision tree of each Coding Tree Unit (CTU). In this paper, an overview and statistical analyses of the QTMT Partitioning Structure under the reference software VTM 16.2 are presented focusing on the different parameters determining the Coding Unit (CU) partition sizes. |
