A short route to cyclopentadienyl tricarbonylrhenium substituted derivatives

CpRe(CO)(3) substituted derivatives were obtained in good yields (44-96%) from fulvenes and Re-2(CO)(10) in boiling mesitylene. This new methodology was applied to the synthesis of CpRe(CO)(3) substituted steroids with success. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
