A convenient catalytic route to symmetrical functionalized bithiophenes

A series of symmetrical functionalized bithiophenes has been synthesized in good to excellent yields via homocoupling of thiophene halides in the presence of Pd(OAc) 2 as a catalyst. Thiophene halides bearing different functional groups were coupled using Pd(OAc) 2 as a catalyst precursor
