Summary:This paper presents the hypothesis that Brazilian journalism represents a singular version of a global trend towards steady decline of catch-all news media due to political communication phenomena that have been changing information markets around the world. Among these phenomena, we outline the increasing entertainment offer, the customized media consumption, so as high political polarization. We sustain this has contributed to deteriorating the political center and, as a result, partisan news media find increasing economical feasibility due to a strong demand for biased news media content. Such a process has been well documented in the United States, precisely the most prominent representative of independent and objective journalism (the "catch-all" news media).
