Description
Summary:The method is suggested that allows the thermal mechanism of laser initiation to be selected against the background of a more efficient photochemical mechanism of initiation. The method is based on different dependences of the efficiency of these mechanisms on the initiating radiation intensity and duration. The method is experimentally tested. It is demonstrated that the threshold of thermochemical initiation of pure tetranitropentaerythrit for illumination of the order of 10 4 W/cm 2 exceeds 75 J/cm 2 , whereas the threshold of thermochemical initiation of tetranitropentaerythrit with light-absorbing inclusions (0.1 weight % of gas soot) reduces to 14 J/cm 2 .
