Description
Summary:Cascaded relativistic magnetron (CRM) is a novel design for relativistic magnetron (RM) with phase-locked microwave output. A cascaded phase-locking RM contains two slow wave structures (SWSs) and an axially extended coupling cavity, which was designed to obtain eight-way phase-locked microwave output. Simulations show that under 650-kV anode voltage and 0.59-T axial magnetic field, the CRM operated in \pi -mode, the output signals fell into a phase-locked state in 14 ns, the power of each way is about 200 MW with 3.75-GHz frequency, and total power exceeded 1.5 GW under 5.5-kA anode voltage. In the serial cascaded configuration, the driven voltage is fed from the intersection of the anode, which obtains a 44% device efficiency.
