Description
Summary:A novel gain-noise plane approach is proposed for collaborative Power-Gain/Noise-Figure optimization of LNAs at near- {f} \boldsymbol {_{max}} frequencies in this brief. The effect of the embedding networks on the noise parameters of the two-port active network is analytically studied. Based on the gain-noise plane approach, the gain and noise parameters are simultaneously represented on one plane. In addition, a design methodology to collaboratively optimize the power gain and noise is proposed. The validity of this methodology has been demonstrated by two 130 GHz LNAs that are designed in 65 nm CMOS based on the proposed collaborative optimization method and conventional techniques, respectively.
