Summary: | An approach to the on-line coupling of solid-phase extraction on porous graphitic carbon (PGC) column and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separation on octadecyl silica column is proposed. The approach includes extraction of phenols from 10 ml of water sample on PGC column; desorption with subcritical water at 175°C, injection of the eluate to the HPLC column and separation at ambient temperature with acetonitrile-water eluent. Limits of detection for UV detection of phenols were 1-5 μg l
−1
, and analyte peaks were 20-50% narrower than for direct injection of 20 μl of sample. |
