Summary:Efficient synthesis of original 1,6-naphthyridin-7(6 H )-ones and their optical properties are described. Their powerful fluorescence properties including dual fluorescence, solvatochromism, acidochromism, large Stokes shifts and high quantum yields, suitable for biological applications or as luminescent devices in materials science, are evidenced. Original fluorescent dyes containing 1,6-naphthyridin-7(6 H )-one have been synthesized and their optical properties have been studied.
