Description
Summary:The STAR Silicon Vertex Tracker was installed and operated for the first time during the 2001–2002 RHIC collision period. Preliminary studies of this data show that while there are still some remaining calibration issues there are already clear indications of momentum resolution improvements, and higher efficiencies for strange particle reconstruction, when the silicon data are included.
